ராஜாஜி,க.சந்தானம் மற்றும் தக்கர் பாபாவிற்கு காந்தி எழுதிய கடிதங்கள்

1944 முதல் பிரிவினையை தவிர்க்க காந்தி போராட்டத்தில் முழுமையாக ஈடுபட்டிருந்ததால் அம்பேத்கர் 1945ல் சுமத்திய குற்றசாட்டுகளுக்கு காந்தி நேரிடையாக பதிலளிக்கவில்லை என்றாலும் ராஜாஜி எழுதிய “அம்பேத்கருக்கு மறுப்பு”  மற்றும் க.சந்தானம் எழுதிய “அம்பேத்கரின் ஆய்வறிக்கை –  மறு ஆய்வு”  வெளிவர ஊக்குவித்தார். அது சம்பந்தமாக காந்தி ராஜாஜி,க.சந்தானம் மற்றும் தக்கர் பாபாவிற்கு எழுதிய கடிதங்கள் :

சுமத்தியிருக்கும் குற்றசாட்டுக்களுக்குப் பதிலளிக்க உங்கள் அளவுக்கு நன்கறிந்தவர்களோ திறனுடையவர்களோ வேறு எவருமில்லை. தயவு செய்து கொஞ்சம் நேரம் ஒதுக்கி எத்தனை விரைவாக உங்கள் பதில்களை அளிக்க இயலுமோ அத்தனை விரைவாக பாபாவிற்கு அனுப்பவும்.

க.சந்தானத்திற்கு எழுதிய கடிதம்

அன்பு சந்தானம்,

குறுகிய காலக் காங்கிரஸ் அமைச்சரவையில் காங்கிரஸ் குறித்து டாக்டர்.அம்பேத்கர் சுமத்தியிருக்கும் குற்றசாட்டுக்களைப் பற்றி அறிந்திருப்பீர்கள். அந்த நூலில் உள்ள பிழையான அறிக்கைகளை வெளிக்கொணரும் வண்ணம் சார்புகளற்ற பதிலறிக்கை வேண்டுமெனும் பாபாவின் எண்ணத்தோடு நானும் ஒத்துபோகிறேன். ஹரிஜன் சேவா சங்கம் சார்பாக பாபா ஒரு பதில் தயாரித்துள்ளார், அதை நீங்கள் அவசியம் பார்க்க வேண்டும், பார்க்கத்தான் போகிறீர்கள். ராஜாஜி காங்கிரஸ் சார்பாகப் பதிலளிக்க இருந்தார். ஆனால் மாறிவிட்ட சூழலில் அவரால் இயலவில்லை. அவருக்கு அடுத்து நீங்களே சிறப்பாகக் கையாள முடியும், எனவே இவ்விஷயத்தைக் கையில் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். பாபா உங்களுக்கு விரிவாக எழுதுவார்.

பாபா,

நீங்கள் வார்தாவுக்குக் கிளம்பியதாக அறிகிறேன். எனது பயணத் தேதியை இன்னும் முடிவுசெய்யவில்லை. நவம்பர் 2 க்கு பிறகு உடனடியாக முடிவெடுக்க முடியும் போலத் தெரிகிறது. நான் சந்தானத்திற்கு எழுதிய கடிதத்தின் பிரதியை உங்களிடம் சேர்ப்பித்து அவருக்கு இது குறித்து விரிவாக எழுதும்படி கோரவே  இந்தக் கடிதத்தை எழுதுகிறேன். நீங்கள் தயாரித்திருக்கும் பதில்களின் வரைவை அவருக்கு அனுப்பவும். அப்போதுதான் உரிய திருத்தங்களோடு காங்கிரசின் தரப்பை அவர் முன்வைக்க இயலும். அவரிடம் டாக்டர்.அம்பேத்கரின் நூலிருக்கும் என எண்ணுகிறேன், இல்லையென்றால் ஒரு பிரதி அனுப்புவதாகப் பதில் அனுப்பவும். உடல்நலத்தைப் பேணி கொள்ளவும். ஜெஹாங்கிர் படேல் எல்வினை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு உங்களைச் சந்திக்க வருவதாக என்னிடம் கூறினார். அதன் பிறகு அவரிடமிருந்து தகவலேதுமில்லை. ஏதேனும் விஷயம் இருந்தால் எழுதவும்.

ஹரிபாவ் பதக்குக்கு நீங்கள் எழுதிய கடிதம் கிடைக்கப் பெற்றேன். உங்கள் பார்வையோடு ஒத்துபோகிறேன். தெளிவு படுத்துவதற்காக இதை எழுதுகிறேன். ஹரிஜன பையன்களுடன் ஹரிஜனமல்லாதவர்கள் சேர்ந்து தங்குவது நல்லதே. ஆனால் அவர்களுக்கு இலவச தங்குமிடம் அளிக்க இயலாது. அவர்கள் முழுத் தொகையையும் கட்ட வேண்டும். நமது கட்டிடமாக இருந்தால் வாடகை வசூலிக்க வேண்டும். வாடகை கட்டிடமாக இருந்தால் அவர்கள் வாடகை பங்கை அளிக்க வேண்டும்.

சுசேதாவை நான் கவனித்துத் கொள்கிறேன். ஃபிப்ரவரியில் என்று நம்புகிறேன். பிரிஜ்கிருஷ்ண சண்டிவாலா பற்றிய விஷயத்தை அனுப்ப முடிந்தது. ம்ருதுலாவின் தகவல்களுக்கு அளிக்கப்படும் பதிலை பொருத்தது. அம்பேத்கரைப் பற்றி சந்தானமும்  எழுதி முடிக்க நாம் அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும். ராஜாஜியின் புத்தகத்தை வாசித்த பிறகு அவரால் புதிய வெளிச்சத்தைப் பாய்ச்ச முடியாது என அவர் கருதினால் அது வேறு விஷயம். ராஜாஜியின் புத்தகம் கிடைக்கப் பெற்றால் நான் ஒருமுறை அதை படித்துப் பார்க்கிறேன். உங்களது பயணத்தைப் பற்றிப் புரிந்துகொள்கிறேன். எனது பயணத்தைப் பொறுத்தவரை நீங்கள் செய்தித்தாள்களில் படித்தது தான். கோப்பைகள் நிறைய உவகையை அருந்தி கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். ஹரிஜன நிதி தொடர்பாகக் கண்ணையா உங்களுக்கு எழுதுவார். டிசம்பர் 26 ஆம் தேதி எழுதிய கடிதத்திற்கான பதிலிது. தர்ம தேவ் தொடர்பாக முன்னரே நானொரு கடிதம் அனுப்பி இருந்தேன். எனக்கது பிடிக்கவில்லை. இருந்தாலும் உங்கள் முடிவுக்கே விட்டுவிடுகிறேன். இப்போது இரண்டாவது திடுக்கிடும் கடிதம் என்னிடம் இருக்கிறது. அதில் விஷயம் ஏதும் இருக்கிறதா எனச் சொல்வதற்கில்லை. அதை வைத்துக்கொண்டு நான் எந்தக் கருத்தையும் உருவாக்க முடியாது, அதே வேளையில் அவை உண்மையாக இருக்கும் என அஞ்சுகிறேன். இந்த விவகாரத்தை விசாரித்து மீரா பெண்ணின் கடிதத்தைத் திருப்பித் கொடுக்கவும்.

There is no other person as well-informed and able as you are to answer Dr. Ambedkar’s indictment of the Congress on the question.(1) Please therefore make time and send your answer to Bapa as early as you can. Love.

1 In his book What Congress and Gandhi Have Done to the Untouchables, B.R. Ambedkar had refuted the Congress claim to represent the untouchables and asserted that the Harijan Sevak Sangh was a political charity which planned “to kill the untouchables by kindness”.

October 18, 1945

DEAR SANTHANAM (1),

You know Dr. Ambedkar’s indictment of the Congress during the short period of the Congress ministries. Bapa thinks and I agree that there should be an impartial statement in reply exposing the many mis-statements in the book. Bapa has prepared a reply on behalf of the Harijan Sevak Sangh which you should and will see. Rajaji was to prepare the Congress reply but he cannot under the altered circumstances. (2) You are the next best man and I would like you to take up the matter. Bapa will write to you more fully.

BAPA,

I see that you have left for Wardha. I can’t as yet decide the date of my journey. It seems I shall be able to do so immediately after November 2. I write this letter just to let you have a copy of my letter to Santhanam and to ask you to write more about it to him. Send a draft of the answer you have prepared so that he can make the necessary changes and make a case for the Congress on the basis of it. I think he will have Dr. Ambedkar’s book. If not, write to him that you will send a copy to him. Look after your health. Jehangir Patel told me that he would be taking Elwin (an English missionary who had been working in tribal areas) to meet you. After that I have not heard from him. Write if there is anything.

I got your letter addressed to Haribhau Phatak.I agree with your view. I wish to add this by way of clarification. It is desirable that non-Harijan boys may stay with Harijan boys but we cannot admit such boys as free boarders. They must pay their full expenses. If the building is ours then we must get the rent, and if the building is rented they must pay their share of the rent.

I shall see about Sucheta. It is in February, I believe. I have been able to send the matter regarding Brijkrishna Chandiwala. It will depend on the reply to Mridula’s wire. We may as well let Santhanam complete [the writing] about Ambedkar. If, after reading Rajaji’s booklet (1) , he himself believes that he will be able to shed no new light, it will be a different story. If I get Rajaji’s booklet I shall go through it. I understand about your tour. About mine it is what you read in the newspapers. I have been drinking cupfuls of delight. Regarding the Harijan Fund, Kanaiyo will write to you. The above is in reply to your letter of December 26. I have already sent one letter to you regarding Dharma Dev. I did not like the thing. I have left it to you to look into the matter. And now I have this second, alarming letter. I cannot say whether there is any substance in it. I can form no opinion on the basis of it, but all the same I must admit that I fear it may be true. Inquire into the matter and return Mirabehn’s letter.
